SAREK : The Society of Air-Conditioning
and Refrigerating Engineers of Korea

Introduction

The Society of Air-conditioning and Refrigerating Engineers of Korea (SAREK) was established in December 31, 1971. First, SAREK started with air-conditioning and refrigerating engineering, and after November, 2000, SAREK expanded by combining with construction and facilities field.

Domestically, local chapter were organized to enlarge local member's activities from Busan/Ulsan/Gyeongnam chapter in 1990 to Daejeon/Chungcheong chapter in 1991 and Daegu/Gyeongbuk and Honam chapter in 1993.

Many SAREK members are working in the industry and that brings active industrial-educational-research cooperation. Based on this active cooperation, our organization have rendered great services to technical and academic improvement in facilities engineering in Korea.

SAREK joined ASHRAE as an international society member in 1985 and we also made up MOU with the SHASE and the ICCCS in 1992. We also entered into an agreement with both the SCANVAC (1996) and the IIR. Recently, SAREK made up MOU with CAR and JSRAE in 2005 and have kept active interactions with the related international societies including them.
